God created us to be instruments with the ability to sing and make music. Music is an important part of worship and praise to God. Music education is important not only for the marketable skills it teaches: creativity, discipline, flexibility, and the ability to cooperatively work with others, but also because it is a way to connect students with their own emotions. We must allow students to find ways to access and express their creative potential through the study of music. Finally, we want all of our students to use their musical abilities to honor, serve, and praise our Savior.
Music is truly a gift of God and is highlighted in our classrooms and our junior choir. The RLS Junior Choir is made up of all students in grades 5 - 8. Students are challenged to learn 2 and 3 part choral music and sing in church 6 or 7 times a year. Special events include Fox Valley Lutheran High School's MusicFest and the Good Friday Tre-Ore service at St. Paul Lutheran of Appleton.
Riverview Lutheran School believes that God is the ultimate artist who created art as an opportunity to worship Him, to serve others, and for personal enjoyment by fostering an appreciation for art and the development of creativity and self-expression. The curriculum is based on art production, art theory, art history, art criticism, aesthetics, and interdisciplinary connections.
